A quick whiff of perfume- enough to evoke
a smile of perfect ease.

When I noted the turn of the leaves.
A meme, a quote, your favourite book;
slang from overseas.
The gentle hint from a wandering brook
and the candid coax of the bees
to pick up the phone. But time marches by
with commitments in twos and threes
and as light fades I look to the sky-
we share the same moon, you and me.

at the start of the day
and now
